We all love Canson XL Series Watercolor Paper! Trusted for decades by artists, students, hobbyists, and art teachers. Each heavyweight sheet is crafted with care to obtain that perfect paper texture and provide a sturdy foundation for multiple washes and layers without warping or buckling. For those of you nerdy enough to know better, our paper is 140lb/300gsm (which means the pre-cut “ream” of full-size sheets weighs 140 pounds and a single sheet of one square meter weighs 300 grams). All of this just means Canson XL watercolor paper has impressive absorbency and strength. So, go at it with bright colors, gradients, and detailed strokes, and even mix things up with gouache or acrylic paint for a mixed media effect. The Canson XL Series was created with students and teachers in mind – affordable, high-sheet count options with an intermediate-level performance sufficient for technical practice and showcases. Once artists are confident enough in their skillset, we recommend transitioning over to the Canson Artist Series family of paper for a museum-quality look and feel.
